The Search Committee is steadily progressing in our journey to find a new Rector.
We met with the vestry in November to provide an update on our progress and to get information required for the search. In addition we have worked with Father John Jeffrey on the upcoming neighborhood walks. These walks will be conducted by committee members as a means looking with fresh eyes at our community.
The committee met in December to discuss feedback from Canon on the survey draft as well as feedback from the vestry.
Th survey is one of the major steps in the process. This will be your opportunity to voice your thoughts about the future of St. Thomas. There will be various methods of completing the survey, so keep an eye on the weekly announcements in the bulletin, check your mailboxes and browse your email inboxes. We hope to begin the survey process after the new year.
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on St. Thomas of Canterbury, and so hear the prayers of the parish family as we look to you for guidance in our search for a new Rector. We pray that you will lead to us a faithful pastor, who will care for us and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The search committee met with Canon to review the process, procedures and challenges of the search for a new Rector. We were concerned about making progress but reminded that this is a marathon not a sprint. We are not a business looking for a new CFO we are a church looking to meet God's goals in our Christian life and community.
Among other to dos we will be asking our church family to help complete a survey ; attend focus groups and assist with a neighborhood walk project.
Our immediate goal is not to focus on the new rector search but to focus on our church family and our community. In this way we hope to open our ears and hearts to God's voice to help us to make a successful match for our future needs as well as our present needs.
